Hey, Karen here!
Today is my sister's birthday. Happy Birthday @kellyfloyd12!
I was thinking back to the day she was born and how happy I was to have a baby sister. The months leading up to her arrival, were almost as exciting as the day I got to meet her. I remember vividly, the drawer filled with newborn clothing and most of all, the handmade afghans, sweaters, hats and booties my grandmother had knit and crocheted. I loved the soft textures, patterns and the pastel shades (mostly greens, yellows and white) as gender was unknown back then :) I think she made a baby set and blanket in every colour. And pink was, and still is, my favourite colour 💗
Perhaps that was when I fell in love with hand-knits. Gram taught me to knit at a very young age and I learned to crochet as a teen. I started creating baby clothes for the infants that I babysat and for shower gifts. One summer, I even remember entering some of my merchandise in the local country fair, along side my Grandmother's handicrafts. We were both category prize winners that year.
I now design and hand crochet all the items in my Grandmabilt shop. I create every piece from memory, I don't follow patterns. After several requests, for purchasing my patterns, I decided to write and list a few, in digital format. I will be adding more Knit Patterns & Crochet Patterns.
My beautiful granddaughter, Madison, with the Knitted Blanket I made for her.
What was once my hobby is now my job, but my love to create for others has stayed the same. Choosing to grow my business came in 2011, when I decided to take my hobby one step further and focus more seriously on my craft, and now here I am!
It’s very rewarding to be able to earn income from home, doing something you love.
